 Events & Abilities
Our menu items are simple - this also is determined by the size and type of event.  We try to keep it that way for the ease of transport and preparation as well as expense.  Keep in mind the name:  Rican Ribs.  We do dry rub ribs with BBQ sauce provided on the side.  We do not do hot dogs and hamburgers, but are open to suggestions for other food items for your event.  Most of our food items are either procured locally or are homemade by the Rican's wife, Jeanne.  Her specialties, so far, are her cole slaw, BBQ sauce and Ranch Beans.  Our ribs are Premium All Natural Duroc Pork from Vande Rose Farm Of Oskaloosa, IA.

We provide all the condiments, paper products, table cloths, silverware etc. for each event.  If something special is desired, and we can find it through our suppliers, it can be included in a bid.

We can help you decide on a menu suitable for your occasion, and provide a bid if you have a specific head count.  If the event is more public than private, and we have a general idea of the number of people that could be attending, we can develop a menu suitable, and charge a per plate price for the entire meal, also offering a plate price for smaller appetites.  For example, our local art fair was a 2-day event with an anticipated attendance of 400-550 people;  we ultimately served approximately 441 people a full meal at a price they could not touch at any local restaurant.  We also offer pricing for full rack and 1/2 racks of ribs with an allowance of approximately 45 minutes cooking time.  Knowing the potential number of attendees, helps us plan on how much food to order.  Another good example of this is "The Upper Iowa Ribs on the River Fest" where, for the last 2 years, we have served between 300 and 400 people.  Other events that we have served at range in size from 45 to 130 people;  There have been company picnics, winery events, wedding receptions, benefits for friends, and a donation dinner to the Minneapolis Veterans Home.  For smaller events where a bid has been provided, there is a requirement of 50% down and the balance due on the day of the event.

    We use the mild spice for our events, but both are available on our "Contact Us" page for $6.00 per can or 10 cans for $50 plus shipping.  Directions for use are provided in the can.

Plate prices:  Full Plate $9.00. Child/Senior Plate - $6.00.  Full Rack - $27.50 (meat only), plus sides for 4 - $32.00.  Half Rack - $16.00 (meat only), plus sides for 2 - $20.00.  All plates include ribs, beans, cole slaw, bread and butter.  Non-alcoholic beverages $1.00.
